Update #2 from Intern Katy

So, it's been a good month and a half since I started here as an intern with the DNR show and I can't believe how fast it's going by!  When Romaine told me that my last blog update was February 9th, I was shocked at how much time has elapsed between now and then.

While I've been doing standard intern duties (ie: mailing, stocking the fridge, etc), I've also learned a shitload of awesome things.  My responsibilities here as an intern are rapidly growing and it's always thrilling to take a step forward and to be introduced to a new program or a new task.  I've learned how to do audio editing, I'm assiting Derek in creating the RSVP list for one of our upcoming events, I've improved greatly with show and call logs when we're in the studio, and that only covers what I've done over the past week.  I have learned so many other things of which I can't even keep track.  One thing is for sure, I'm super excited about learning how to work the boards int he studio under the guidance of Ishaq and Katie.

Of course, I still have some adjusting to do.  As Derek informed me last night, I need to recognize "time burglars" over the phone and stop being nice to said individuals.  I also have this bizzare curse where I can never find properly sized boxes for mailing out prizes and always go on a scavenger hunt around the office with Amber (DNR's producer) in an attempt to find boxes that aren't too big or too small.

In addition to being taught new things, I've also become aquainted with DNR regulars such as Stanton in Austin (one of our hilarious callers) and the fabulous Queen of Green aka Hedda Lettuce (she always brings us cookies btw which my sweet tooth can never deny).  I've even had the opportunity to meet Charo!  Not to mention, occasionally getting to be featured over the air is a really unique & awesome experience.

I can't wait to learn more here at the DNR show and so far everyone I have met here with OutQ and Sirius XM have been awesome.  I'm curious to see what the next few months will bring!

Here's an awesome view of the city at sunset from the window
