It's Fritzy aka Frenchie once again!

Hey Bitches,

It's me again!!!! Fritzy a.k.a Frenchie (in Derek's eyes)...

So here's what's been going on since my last post... I've finally learned to get the caller's names right. I haven't mistaken anyone's name since! I told you guys I'd get it right! I'm learning to work the studio board more and more, and Donny is proud of me! I would've cared, but I can no longer associate myself with Donny since he truly believes that I look like Sherry Shepard. Puh-lease!!! Sherry wishes she had all this hotness. But I think Donny just thinks all black people look alike, so eventually I will find it in my heart to forgive him :) I told him he looks like Whoopi Goldberg, so we're even.

I remember a caller asked me, who am I more intimidated by...Derek or Romaine? And now that I had time to think about it, I'm not intimidated by either one of you bitches...lol... You guys are cool. You teach me more and more everyday what it takes to be a great radio host! You guys claim that you hate each other, but I guess that love/hate relationship is what works for radio. And I love it!!! And it also helps that Derek feeds me candy every now and then! How can I be intimidated by someone like that :)

I only have a month left to go and I'm sad. This is the best internship that I've ever done. I don't want it end, but I guess I gotta go sometime.

But I will never forget Katie's laugh, Derek's laugh (I mean who can forget that?), Romaine's complaints about her wife every now and then, and Donny's twerking!

But until then... I can't wait for more laughs to come, crazy guests, and of course, the crazy callers...And Katie- I will continue to wear cat hoodies in honor of you!

P.S- ...My Birthday is Dec. 21st and I expect a goodie bag full of dildos, sex books, and a DVD with Donny and Derek twerk battling :)

Fritzy = #TheBest
DNR = #TheWorst :)

Holiday Movie Picks from Derek and Steve Hayes!

Steve Hayes, Tired Old Queen At The Movies dropped by the show to talk about his favorite holiday movies. Here are some of them:

Miracle on 34th Street (Special Edition) The 1947 version with Edmund Gwenn and a young Natalie Wood is the first and best version of the classic story of a young girl who doesn't believe in Santa Claus and the department store employee who believes that he is.

Meet Me In St. Louis (Two-Disc Special Edition)
This Judy Garland classic follows a year in the changing life of a family at the turn of the century in St. Louis in the seasons leading up to the World's Fair. The film contains the holiday classic "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" in one of the great holiday scenes ever filmed.

Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory - ABC Stage 67 (l966)
This is Steve Hayes' favorite holiday film, rare and made for TV in the 1960s. Based on writer Truman Capote's adventures as a child.

It's a Wonderful Life (60th Anniversary Edition)
The Jimmy Stewart classic about a down on his luck man who gets to see what his life would be like if he had never been born. Guaranteed to make you cry!

Holiday Inn (Special Edition) & White Christmas (Anniversary Edition)
The original launched the song "White Christmas" which was the biggest selling song of all time for fifty years. The splashing big color sequel of sorts White Christmas is splashy and kinda gay. Is that a drag version of the song Sisters? Yes! Also includes current DNR favorite classic song: Snow!

Christmas in Connecticut
This Barbara Stanwyck classic is Derek's favorite holiday film. Dennis Morgan is a sailor who dreams of spending Christmas with America's domestic diva Barbara Stanwyck, only she is a fake living in a tiny Manhattan apartment. Can this regular gal fake her way through a very Martha Christmas? Wonderful fun.

Midnight (Universal Cinema Classics)
It isn't a Christmas movie, but it is one of Derek's top ten favorite films of all time. And it is Steve Hayes' pick this week for his Tired Old Queen At The Movies series. Looking for a fun holiday gift this year? Midnight is a film to love!

Derek Does Dallas!

At the request of hot shirtless (and married!) listener Shawn, here is an update on where and when to see Derek at Dallas Pride.

Derek is arriving on Saturday, September 18th and heading straight for Gay Bingo which is happening on Saturday afternoon in the Rose Room at S4. This is a really fun, great event and it benefits the Resource Center Dallas. So definitely come on by and have a great time at bingo. Then, later on Saturday night, Derek will be bar crawling on Cedar Springs Road. His favorite bar is The Round Up, so you will probably see him there at some point.

On Sunday, September 19th, Derek will be riding in the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade and then emceeing the stage at the rally at Lee Park after the parade. So if you don't get to meet him on Saturday, drop by the stage at Lee Park and look for the Sirius XM booth next to the stage. You can find Derek there!

Having trouble finding Derek? Download the free DNR Social app for the iPhone and the iPod Touch. It is brought to you by the makers of Grindr and helps you locate Derek, other DNR listeners and the hundreds of thousands of other men in the Grindr universe!

Adorable Noah Levy from In Touch Weekly is in studio for another Tabloid Tuesday. The best gossip is what you don't hear when we dish during the breaks. We'll never tell!

Derek and Romaine hang out with Anahad O'Connor and the ever adorable Dave Lieberman. They have a great new book out 10 Things You Need To Eat. Unfortunately, Dave is not one of them. Maybe he is #11.

Not My Grandmother

Thanksgiving weekend, I journeyed up to a bar called Primetime in Highland, NY. It's the closest thing to a real bar near me that isn't in Manhattan, and it's not that close or that real. However, while hanging out there, I spotted a drag queen that looked so much like my late grandmother Doris, I couldn't help but stare. I even had to take a grainy photo with my iPhone to send to my mother.

Yes my grandmother never would have worn a wig that long (her blond wig dropped just below the ears), but in all other respects, that drag queen looked like my grandmother! I wrote about Doris quite extensively in my book, although there are no pictures of her included. So for those of you who got the book and were curious about what my grandmother looked like, this is about as close as you are gonna get.

Derek's Kitchen

For some reason my house has been a hot topic of conversation lately, probably because I have been bragging about all these new free appliances my roommate got us. More on that later.

So I thought you might enjoy seeing the evolution of my kitchen. It all starts in January 2007 when I first went to look at the house. I promise you the kitchen was the least offensive room in the house, even with the sparkly gold cabinets and bland off-white appliances. Here is a photo of the kitchen and dining room with my home inspector standing in the middle of this mess:

The woman who owned the house was a huge fan of over decorating, as you can see here. Now maybe this is your style but it certainly isn't mine. And most of what I wanted to do with my mid-century Cape Cod was to return it to a more mid-century look. That is not what she was going for. Clearly, she craved "country kitchen." And how!

We swapped out the light fixtures, replaced the door pulls with something more period, and painted the kitchen. Mike came up with the idea of painting the back wall and the cabinet fronts blue and keeping the rest of the walls and cabinet sides a pale taupe through the kitchen and dining room since it has an open floor plan between the two rooms. Some listeners on my Facebook fan page think the kitchen is "too blue" but I promise you, even though it is a strong color, it is the accent color in the room.

Mike works for a production company that makes videos and they needed a kitchen to film a cooking show in, sponsored by Samsung. And the best part? Samsung would be supplying free appliances for the shoot and we could keep them after they were done. So, in the week before Thanksgiving, all new stainless steel appliances were installed. I bought a new dishwasher to match.

Now the kitchen makeover is complete. And to see it in action, you can check out the cooking show they filmed in my kitchen! As you will see in the video the blue is not too dominate at all and I think the kitchen looks amazing. But judge for yourself. It's short and it has some good ideas for remaking those Thanksgiving leftovers. Enjoy! And post your comments here!
Happy Thanksgiving!

No H8!

When Derek and I were in Dallas, TX back in September we went and had our photos taken by Adam Bouska for his NoH8 campaign. I personally think that this photo campaign is very compelling and was very honored to take part.

So enjoy our pictures and let us know what you think!

Behind the scenes

As many of you know on Monday's show while Derek was away I did a behind the scenes look at life at Sirius/ XM Radio. So I thought since it has been a while since I did a blog entry I would talk a little bit about what happens behind the scenes at our show.

Most days start at about 1pm. That's when Mistress Sam gets to work to start her magic. Sam is really a master of all trades. She books all of our guests, helps maintain all of the editing and over sees Greg and the intern. All of this while dealing with the crazy egos of Derek and Romaine! And that is really over simplifying things. I can't even begin to tell you all the things Sam does, but I do know this by the time I arrive at work she is hip deep in her tasks for the day. In fact, I think the only time she leaves her desk is when she has to pee or go grab dinner!

Meanwhile, Greg is often at his desk working on one of many editing jobs. He pulls all of the clips and pieces them together for any "best of" show that is played while we are away. He also puts together all of the little promos about our show that you hear on OutQ throughout the day. Oh yeah and he works on all the show imaging like in the intros and re-joiners that you hear all the time! And when he isn't busy with all of that he can be found helping Sam out or working with the Intern. But let's not kid ourselves he also spends a lot of time sneaking away for an afternoon cigarette. ewww.

I come into the office most days between 3-4 depending on how quickly I can get Romie out of the house that day. When I get to the office the first thing I do is check in with Sam. I make sure she has everything she needs for the show that night and I answer any booking questions she has for later in the week. Then I make my way to my office. I spend a few minutes getting the show logs updated and I check my email. If I have a specific task to get down that day (which I often do) I hop to it. My current tasks include: Getting ready for the Stocking promotion, Breaking down data from the 1st half of the year on our show...among some top secret tasks I can't even tell you about.

Derek tends to arrive at one of three times. On days we have meetings he is there some time just before 4pm. But most days he gets in at either 4:30 or 5:30 depending on which train he catches into the city. I can't tell you exactly what he does because to be honest we try not to spend very much time talking "off air". We save as much as we can for the radio show. But I do know that Derek is responsible for booking all of our travel dates and all the who ha that comes with that job. He also is the one that writes the newsletter every week. So he tends to keep himself pretty busy.

Have any questions about life behind the scenes? Leave a comment and I will see if I can answer them for you.

R Family cruise stuff

Hey guys
I know it has been a long time since anyone blogged (*cough* Romaine *cough*) so I thought I would share some links to video and photos from the cruise. If you click on the photo above of all the listeners hanging out on the ship to watch our broadcast last week from the NCL Star on the R Family cruise to Alaska, you can see my photo gallery of images from the cruise.
Ben from Chicago also made a video montage of the broadcast which you can check out on YouTube.com.
Trucker James was there and I am sure he will be posting 600 ugly photos of me shortly. And Romaine will no doubt have tons of photos too. It was a great adventure and who knows, we might be back with them again next year. Stay tuned!
Our show is live again on Monday so call in at (866) 305-6887 and let us know what you thought of our adventures on the high seas!

Derek & Romaine at Columbus Pride 2009

Hey Bitches. Columbus Pride 2009 ended up being a really spectacular event. More than 180,000 people attended the largest pride festival in Ohio, ever!!. Derek & Romaine, were fabulous as the Emcees this year. During the festivities, I had the pleasure of meeting other listeners like Mama Missy & Baby Rachel, our beloved Tranny-Lesbians that are into Infantilism, Jeremiah from Indiana, Trucker Elise, Trucker Patti and Logan from Pittsburgh just to name a few. It truly was a very special event. The Bitches, not only owned the stage, but they were the highlight of the event.

Later in the evening, Derek, Romaine, Shawn from Columbus, Trucker Patti & myself enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Union Cafe. I may have accidentally (uh-huh) taken a picture of Derek eating some hummus. Not only was the picture of Mr. Hartley eating, but it was also from a profile view (his least favorite side). The bids for this picture to ever see the light of day start at $100, payable to The Matthew Shepard Foundation. Also at dinner Trucker Patti with her massive purse, knocked a rather large glass of water into Derek's lap, it was truly hilarious for everyone except Derek and Patti.

After dinner we all trekked over to Axis Nightclub for Dragapalooza where Lady Bunny, on drag time (1 1/2 hours late), was sensational. Fortunately, Romaine did not get to see Bunny with a dick in her mouth, like at the 2008 GayVN Awards. The show was fantastic. Local Queens were fierce, especially Miss Nina West, 2008 National Entertainer of the Year, my hometown Dayton, Ohio's own Rubi Girls, Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2009, Ms. Penny Tration from The Adonis Nightclub in Cincinnati among many, many more.
It was so much fun, at one point I wanted to dress up like Tina Turner. After the show, Romaine's feet needed to be rested, so she left Derek, Shawn, Patti and myself to drink, solve gay problems, try to pick up "straight" friends of listeners and gossip about her, it was so much fun. (The last picture is Mike, Logan in Pittsburgh's "straight" friend I referred to earlier, isn't he hot?). I ended up having to leave to get my car out of valet, so I left at 2am to recover and be ready for the Bat N' Rouge the next day, but that's a whole other post. Later Bitches.
